"The photographer Bent Rej was born in Denmark in 1940. After what he describes as a ‘photographic education, he began his career in the early sixties as a press-photographer for one of the leading newspapers in Denmark, Extra Bladet. In the mid-sixties he undertook many photographic sessions with great rock stars of the time, including The Who, Jimi Hendrix, The Kinks, The Animals and The Beatles. In particular, he completed many sessions with The Rolling Stones and became a close friend of Brian Jones. During the seventies and eighties, Bent Rej concentrated more on fashion and advertising photography and he also undertook commercial campaigns for many international companies. Over the last fifteen years, for example, he has produced and photographed the famous “Probably the Best Beer in the World” campaigns for Carlsberg. He also has a passion for architecture and has completed editorial features for international magazines and books all over the world. He also works now on special projects including, for example, books with flower artist Tage Andersen and a book on Provence with Robert Dallas. In 2005, he published an acclaimed photographic book on his early days with the Rolling Stones. Bent Rej has exhibited his work and, in particular, his photography of Cuba on many occasions. He and his wife divide their time between the South of France, London and Copenhagen. He is loved by his 4 grandchildren and has one other passion beside family and photography golf with his friends."
